Case Study of a 1st Party Quality Program Audit

Abstract

This is a case study of a quality program audit of a manufacturer. It provides an opportunity for attendees to observe a practical application of the quality auditing standard, the thought process, the pitfalls, and the problems encountered.

We observe the flow of the production process as the reference for assessing a quality program. This is opposed to the use of the quality program elements as the reference from which one observes a production process.
The approach provides:

  1. An opportunity to observe the significance to each quality program element with respect to product conformance and satisfaction of a contract, and
  2. An opportunity to establish a solid base for conducting follow-up quality program evaluations, emphasizing quality system improvement.
