Mr. Monks is a Vice Chairman of The Bank of New York Mellon Corporation where he oversees an operations and technology organization that provides servicing to financial institutions, corporations and high-net-worth individuals worldwide. In this role, Mr. Monks is responsible for The Bank of New York Mellon’s operations, technology and software development, business continuity planning and corporate services, the latter of which includes security and facilities management. He is also co-head of the global effort to integrate the people, technology and capabilities of The Bank of New York and Mellon Financial Corporation.
Prior to the merger of The Bank of New York and Mellon in July 2007, Mr. Monks held a similar position as The Bank of New York’s Chief Administrative Officer, manager of operations and technology and a member of the Company’s Senior Policy Committee, as well as the bank’s European Correspondent Banking Group.
During more than three decades with the Company and its predecessor organization, Mr. Monks has directed key functions and has become recognized globally as a leader in shaping the evolution of the payments and securities servicing industries, as well as in developing industry protocols for infrastructure resilience and business continuity. He is a representative to the Financial Services Roundtable and serves on the advisory board of BITS, its sister organization that focuses on issues related to emerging technology. He is also Chairman of the Federal Reserve’s Payments System Risk Advisory Committee, as well as Treasurer and member of the Executive Committee of the U.S. Council for International Business.
