Practical Application of Design Quality Methods and Tools

The project includes construction of several hard rock tunnels and caverns in Manhattan, four soft ground tunnels in Queens passing beneath Amtrak's Sunnyside yard east of Manhattan and rising to merge with the Amtrak and LIRR track network at Harold interlocking, extensive architectural and facilities design elements as well as all systems engineering elements. The QA team’s primary focus was to develop, implement and improve a comprehensive quality system that would enable the many companies of the GEC to function as a cohesive design team. Mr. Juhasz will describe some of the “Best Practices” both during design and design during construction now going on.
